Truckstops has been awarded the prestigious ‘2021 Parts Department of the Year Excellence Award’ by Hino Motors Japan (HML), placing Hino’s authorised New Zealand aftersales support partner in the top tier of distributors worldwide.

The award criteria evaluates a wide range of categories from unit sales and supply rates, to market share and process improvements. 

“It is great that the team has been recognised for their hard work and focus on our Hino customers.” commented Phillip Wilson, Business Development Manager for Truckstops. “Our Hino aftersales service has been built up over years of continued focus and innovation, putting customers at the centre of everything we do. 

“Initiatives like nationwide fixed price servicing and fixed price brake relines offer cost certainty, coupled with the convenience of a modular approach offering exchange brake and air drier kits, in addition to filter, clutch, wiper blade and engine kits – it just makes us easier to deal with,” said Phil. “Our latest initiative is the Hino online service calculator, allowing customers to generate their own service schedules, complete with costs.”

Hino Motors is a proponent of the Kaizen philosophy, a business philosophy for the continuous improvement of workplace practices. Truckstops undertook a Kaizen project which contributed to their award. The Hino ‘Red Book’ is a folder provided in every new Hino Truck which contains everything the owner needs to know about the truck, in addition to other important documents for the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). The Kaizen project significantly improved the process for procuring, creating, and storing the Red Book. It also added efficiencies to the PDI process. HML was so impressed that the new process has since been rolled out across its other international dealers.
