The Aftersales Team from Sime Darby Motors Hong Kong Visits Sime Darby Motors City in Malaysia



Sime Darby Motors Hong Kong (SDMHK) awarded the 2021 to 2023 winners of aftersales service competition a trip to Malaysia. Twelve employees across BMW Concessionaires (HK), Universal Cars, Island Motors and Universal Automobile embarked on a 5-day tour to Sime Darby Motors headquarters in Kuala Lumpur and Inokom assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah.

Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur, the team went straight visited the Sime Darby Motors Body & Paint Centre. They met local experts and had the opportunity to exchange industry knowledge and experiences. They then went to Sime Darby Motors City, the largest automotive complex in Southeast Asia showcasing nine flagship brands - BMW, MINI, BYD, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche and Volvo. The team went on a tour to each dealership and showroom to learn and find out the latest technologies and practice in their aftersales services. They also learnt about the potentials and challenges of new energy vehicles in the region.

The team also visited Sime Darby's assembly plant, Inokom in Kulim, Kedah. It was an eye-opening experience to witness how cars were assembled and its process from the start to the end. The walkthrough includes modular operation areas, where engine parts were assembled, raincheck and car testing before leaving the line. This visit to Inokom has demonstrated the high standards, quality management and safety precautions in the facility.

The team also had a chance to visit iconic buildings such as Petronas Twin Towers, Central Market and explore the local scene at a local market in Malaysia. It was an insightful trip for the team, leaving participants with valuable insights on the dynamics of the automotive industry in the region.
