Ford EcoBoost 1.5L Engine and Ford Focus Receive Recognition
from VOTY 2017 and #ABC2016 Respectively.
Petaling Jaya, June 6, 2017 - Don’t let the size of the engine fool you. It’s small and nimble but the four-cylinder Ford 1.5L EcoBoost engine really packs in a punch, with the capacity to boost fuel efficiency while increasing drivability and performance.
This is why the Ford EcoBoost 1.5L engine received special recognition from VOTY 2017 and #ABC2016, winning the ‘Petrol Engine of The Year’ award at the recent Vehicle of the Year Awards (VOTY) 2017.
Fuel efficient, drivability, performance, efficiency and low yearly road tax fee were the winning features that judges hailed in the 1.5L EcoBoost engine.
The four-cylinder 1.5L EcoBoost engine is the fifth member of the EcoBoost family with the capacity to boost fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions up to 20 per cent, in line with Ford’s aggressive fuel economy and emissions strategy.
It is the first engine from Ford to incorporate a computer-controlled clutch on the belt-drive water pump, improving efficiency by reducing warm-up time. A water-cooled charge air cooler is added to offer a more efficient feed of air into the engine.
“Ford EcoBoost technology has changed the way people look at petrol engines and has enjoyed huge success with customers. We are honoured and proud to receive this award and acknowledgement from both VOTY 2017 and #ABC2016,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Bin Syed Faiz, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion.
Commenting of the winning engine, “We were looking for a fuel efficient petrol engine that delivers power with buttery smoothness and still gave the driver the necessary power needed for daily driving,” said the judges of VOTY 2017.
VOTY 2017, hosted by Malaysian motoring website www.dsf.my and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad, along with co-sponsors Bosch Malaysia and Starbucks Malaysia on 12 May, is the first local automotive awards ceremony that pays homage to both ground breaking products as well as the hard working Malaysians that bring them to our shores.
The Ford Focus that is fitted with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, made it to the AutoBuzz.my list of the Best Cars of the Year 2016, #ABC2016, for its adequately powerful and responsive turbocharged engine.
Singing praises for this nimble hatch from Ford, Travis Chang of AutoBuzz.my said, “Drive it over any terrain, rain or shine, the Focus remains comfortable as it is planted on the roads.”
“Despite being grossly overlooked, its unrivalled driving dynamics is the single biggest reason why the Focus is the best car I’ve driven in 2016,” he continued.
The 1.5L EcoBoost engine is offered in the new Ford Focus and Ford Kuga sold in Malaysia.
