Sime Darby Motors New Zealand Move-A-Thon Supports Employees' Well-Being

Sime Darby Motors New Zealand (SDMNZ) is underlining Sime Darby's commitment to Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) by promoting employees' well-being through a new programme to support improved mental and physical health. The Move-a-thon programme is a team-based challenge that encourages employees to move physically – a proven way of boosting well-being while decreasing stress, depression and anxiety.

With over 500 participants (over 40% of SDMNZ employees), Move-a-thon groups employees into teams from different departments to complete a virtual step challenge following a route from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand. This creates an opportunity for employees from different functions to get to know one another better, encouraging greater collaboration.

Launched in March this year, Move-a-thon is a six-week challenge designed to get people moving which embeds Sime Darby’s core values of Care for All and Win Together, while raising funds for SDMNZ charity partner - Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. There will be more initiatives to come throughout 2024 to hit a fundraising target of $150,000 by March 2025. This in turn will support the Mental Health Foundation’s mission to create a country where ‘we can all feel good and do well.’
