Q: Tell us about your role and your journey with Sime Darby.
A:I stumbled upon the opportunity to be a part of the safety team at Sime Darby Auto Bavaria and since then, my passion to foster a safe workplace has grown. I first embarked on my career as a trainee under Skim Latihan 1Malaysia in 2011. I was tasked in the administration and accounting department at first. Later, my journey took a transformative turn as I was roped into the critical domain of safety and health. It was first on a part-time basis and in 2017, I transitioned into a full-time role in the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team where I have stayed until now.

Q: Can you share how you portray Sime Darby's core value - Care for All in your role?
A: I had to first advocate the safety before engaging and influencing the team in the "No Harm, Live by It” culture. It has become more than a slogan—it is a way of life and it plays a pivotal role in nurturing a robust safety culture within the organisation. With that, I believe each one of us should arrive and leave the workplace in the safest and healthiest condition as we all have families waiting for us at home. My work has turned into a meaningful profession to help and benefit others.

Q: In your opinion, what are the ways to raise awareness when it comes to health, safety or environment at the workplace?
A: I believe in proactive and effective communication to foster a collaborative relationship that gears towards safety excellence and a relentless drive to push boundaries and elevate standards. I strive to continue to be a leader in the realm of health, safety and environmental stewardship by setting clear goals and working as a team in leading us all into a desired safety culture.

A: Raising awareness on health, safety and environmental among the workforce requires a comprehensive approach. Education plays a crucial role such as regular training sessions, workshops and seminars to equip employees with the knowledge needed to make safer and more environmentally friendly decisions. It is important to have active engagement through safety drills, environmental challenges and participation in events like World Day for Safety and Health at Work to help reinforce these concepts practically.
