On the 16th and 17th of January, the SQM Department organized a Road Safety Awareness Programme. A total number of 80 pax joined the 2 days programme held at Boardroom Level 2, Sime Darby Motors HQ.

The training session was conducted by Ir. Muammar Quadaffi Mohd Arrifin & Encik Mohd Hashim b. Abd Latif from KPX Sdn Bhd. Both are experienced trainers & consultants, with more than 60 years of cumulative experience in road safety consultancy and training, focusing on preventive, safe and defensive approach. Topics covered were on Basic Concepts, Mind Set Change, The Requirements to be a Good Driver, Strategic Skill, Tactical Skill, Operational Skill and ending the session with a Hazard Identification Game.

The programme is designed to provide awareness and understanding to the participants on identifying the human factors that may increase their vulnerability as a road user, understanding on how human failure can lead to higher likelihood of an accident, knowing how to assess their behaviour on the road in order to achieve safer and better road user and also in order to improve road safety culture within Sime Darby Motors.

On a side note, Encik Mohd Nazir Harun (Head of Sustainability & Quality Management Department) informed all attendees on the official launching of 2019 Motors Road Safety Campaign & Road Safety Management Plan that will be held on the 13th of February 2019. The launching would be done by our very own Managing Director, Mr Andrew Basham at Sime Darby Motors HQ.

There will be other activities on that day such as, exhibition booth by the representatives from Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR), National Institute of Occupational, Safety and Health (NIOSH), Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) and Competent person from Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). This is to educate the road users (employees) and emphasize on road safety issues. In addition, there will also be a Vehicle Inspection Demo, SOCSO talk session, Defensive Driving and First Aid Responder.
